DINING AND NIGHT LIFE

Even in self catering accommodations such as Villa Masbah sometimes one of the most enjoyable aspects of being on holiday is eating out in one of the many cafes, restaurants or hotels that Dubai has to offer.

Du bai’s many fine restaurants offer a microcosm of the world’s cuisines. The choice is limitless – Gulf and Middle Eastern, Japanese, North African, Indian, Italian, Mexican, French, Thai Chinese, German, the list goes on and on.

Many of the fine dining restaurants are located in the countless hotels and have menus to suit all tastes. It is worth investigating the special all inclusive buffet menus available at some hotels. These can sometimes include alcoholic beverages in the inclusive price. Be warned, they are popular and booking is advised.

Outside the hotels, Dubai offers the visitor a small gastronomic adventure, with thousands of small eating places scatted throughout the city. Fast food ranges from several large international chains to the small “one man” shawarma stands selling shaved marinated lamb or chicken mixed with tahina sauce and salad then rolled inside a pocket of Arabic bread.

At night, Dubai has something for everyone. Bars and pubs can be found in all the top hotels, most of which feature live music. There are choices of nightclubs, some of which are “Arabic” and perhaps not suited for the overseas visitor. Dubai is on the regular circuit for many international stars and frequently hosts shows. There is regular theatre events which have not only local artists but some of the hits from the West End and Broadway.
