GETTING THERE

The vast majority of overseas tourists to Dubai arrive at Dubai International Airport which is served by a large number of the major international airlines.

 

 

Some international travelers arrive via Sharjah International Airport,

 

Abu Dhabi International Airport or

 

Ras Al-Khamiah International Airport

 

Other methods of getting to Dubai is by road from Oman via travel through the other Emirates or other Gulf States such as Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain or Kuwait but that also involves travel through one or more of the other Emirates.

There are also several smaller marine companies which arrive at Dubai and over the last few years there has been an increase in cruise liners making Dubai a destination.


AIRLINES

Direct flights into Dubai from the UK and Europe are available from several major airlines, including

offers flights to Abu Dhabi, which is only one hour's drive from Dubai and has an office and bus depot on Sheik Zayed Road for passengers traveling to/from Abu Dhabi on their flights Indirect flights from UK and Central Europe are also available from:

These airlines sometimes offer reasonable prices if you are willing to transit in Larnaca, Cairo, Bahrain, Kuwait, Doha, Amman, Istanbul or Bucharest. These also may offer the option of a stopover.

There is a host of airlines flying from the Sub-continent and the Far East, most of which offer direct flights. These include Air China, Air India Air India Express, Biman, Cathay Pacific, Emirates, Indian Airlines, JAL, Korean Airlines, Malaysian Airlines, Royal Brunei, Singapore Airlines, Sri Lankan Airlines, Thai Airways, the list quite extensive. It is worth bearing in mind some of these airlines use Dubai as a stop over to Europe and therefore you can sometimes obtain direct flights from Europe on theses airlines.

Recently Delta Airlines and United Airlines commenced direct flights from USA to Dubai. There are also direct flights from North America on Emirates, Eithad and Qatar Airlines.

From Africa there are frequent services offered by Air Egypt, Ethiopian Airlines, Kenya Airways, South African and Tunis Air.

From Australia and New Zealand there is Qantas, Emirates and a host of other Far Eastern airlines with non direct flights.

There are very competitive rates available from many online sources and is worth exploring to find a reasonable price. There are also numerous airlines from the former USSR and Eastern Europe.


VISA REQUIREMENTS

The procedures / rules detailed here below are for Information Only and are subject to change without prior notice.

Most travellers need to obtain a visa prior to entering the emirate. However, the following passport holders can get an entry permit stamped in their passport upon arrival.

  • AGCC country visa holders (certain designations only)

  • Andorra. Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brunei, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Holland, Hong Kong, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Monaco, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, San Marino, Singapore South Korea Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, U.K., USA and Vatican City.

The Dubai Naturalization & Residency Department (DNRD) issues different types to visas which are listed below.

1 - 96 hour visa:
2 - Visit visa: 4 types of this visa.
3 - Transit visa
4 - Tourist visa
